kids on the national mall
So we made it! Kids loved the ride on the metro .. then we wandered around the smithsonian and the nat'l mall .. and then walked to chinatown. We had a delicious dinner at a little hole in the wall Indian restaurant. And bought cupcakes for dessert. It was chilly and rainy .. but we all had a great evening. Back to our fancy hotel (yay for hotwire) so we can see a lot more tomorrow.

American woodcock
Better luck on this outing with the kids. I loved listening and then seeing the woodcocks flying all around us. We were so lucky to see one right on the path. We also saw a bluebird, white-tailed deer, and a turkey who was roosting in a tree.
